Teeth can be discoloured by both external and internal factors. External effects can be caused by drinking coffee, tea, red wine or smoking, while internal effects can be caused by an injury or tooth decay.

Whitening process

A first check of the teeth should be done to determine if they are healthy and if they have been bleached. If the teeth are in good condition, the first step is a thorough scaling and polishing. After cleaning, a whitening agent is applied to the desired surface and removed after 20 minutes. If the effect is not satisfactory, the procedure can be repeated. Teeth may be sensitive after whitening, but this sensation disappears after a few days.

The final tooth colour is achieved after two weeks. If the teeth need further treatment (filling, crown), these procedures can only be continued after the two-week waiting period. Finished crowns and fillings cannot be whitened. The whiteness of the teeth will be maintained for 1-2 years, but this depends largely on the patient's eating habits, oral hygiene and lifestyle (smoking).

Beyond uses light with a wavelength of 480-520 nanometres, which is filtered by more than 12,000 glass fibres totalling a mile in length, and then passes through two optical lenses coated with more than 30 layers of coating to filter out infrared and ultraviolet light. Using the latest optical techniques, Beyond emits lower temperatures than comparable devices, avoiding irritation of the dental nerves.

Tests have shown that after whitening with Beyond, an improvement in tooth colour of between 5 and 14 degrees on the Vita colour scale can be observed. The average improvement is 8 shades.

Safety: scientific research shows that hydrogen peroxide teeth whitening is effective and safe. It has been used by the Society of Dentists for many years. Hydrogen peroxide does not alter or damage the structure of teeth, it simply makes them whiter and brighter.
